Chapter Three
Rory and Lorelei walked into Lukes Diner after their conversation in the car.
"Luke, coffee," Lorelei called out.
"You just had coffee before you went to your parents'," he pointed out.
Lorelei growled.
"Did you just growl?" he asked her.
"Coffee," she said once again.
"Fine," he relented, "but don't come running to me when it starts to kill you."
"What could I do to make my coffee so mad that it would kill me?" she asked with wide eyes.
Luke just shook his head. "Jess, pour them coffee."
"Gee, Uncle Luke, ever heard of child labor laws?" Jess asked as he poured Rory and Lorelei their coffee.
He started to walked away when Rory said, "Jess wait."
He turned around.
"I was just at my grandparents' and-"
"This doesn't sound good," Jess interrupted her.
"Will you just listen?" she asked him.
He pretended to lock his mouth and throw away the key.
Rolling her eyes Rory continued, "and my grandma tried to set me up with this jerk from school."
"Still not seeing why I should care about this."
"I'm getting there. Well, I kind of said I already had a date."
"And this has what to do with me?" he asked.
"Will you go with me," she begged.
"What did I say about begging?" Lorelei exclaimed from the opposite side of the table.
"Why should I?" Jess asked her.
"Because if I don't I'll ask Dean."
"Why should I care about that?" Jess asked her.
"Because I recently dumped him and if I took him back he would be happy and you hate him so you wouldn't want him to be happy," Rory explained triumphantly.
Jess sighed, "Fine," he mumbled.
"Thank you," Rory squealed as she jumped up from her seat and hugged him, which caused most of the people in the diner to stare. Including a Dooses employee who happened to be walking by...
